AgGateway members in North America have been addressing electronic connectivity issues related to the specialty chemical business, impacting the areas of professional vegetation management, pest control services, and turf and ornamental, as well as subset segments such as aquatics and forestry.
The focus is on “pain points” related to the exchange of business data within these segments, and the need to implement standards and guidelines that allow companies to access timely, accurate data. Digital standardization and coding on products would enhance the accuracy and timing of billing and payments to distributors, and would reduce complexity, improve efficiency and cut costs.
Initial priorities have included incorporating product codes into AgGateway’s Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS), starting the process of using standard product identifiers, and creating consistent industry guidelines for contract-to-invoice and sales reporting.
Current Focus
- Standardization of sales and inventory/sales and inventory reconciliation
- Unit of measure (UOM) and packaging.
